AP Art concentrations

This is a page meant for a personal reminder that's close at hand. Some writing may be short-handed notes only I would personally understand but I will try to make this legible for anyone who would want to waste their time reading.

AP courses require a body of works conforming to a certain 'concentration' or theme. This page mainly serves as my brainstorming and recording page as I run through concentration concepts.

2009-2010
AP Studio Art 3D Design -
Concentration 1 - Human form
Details - I was interested in the subtleties of gestures and expressions in the human body.
Status - Never got off the drawing board. I had no experience modeling  clay, much less experience in modeling the human figure

Concentration 2 - Yearning for flight
Details - ?
Status - AP test concentration. Completed 9 pieces. Test score : 4

2010-2011
AP Studio Art Drawing -
Concentration 1 - Mythical animals
Details - Self portraits portraying myself as different mythical animals. This concentration would allow experimentation with different mediums to portray many different textures while still maintaining a convincing living appearance
Status - Rejected. Target college UCLA dislikes portraits containing anything mythical animal related.

Concentration 2 - States of mind
Details - Utilizing color theory and expressiveness of the body. This concentration was reminiscent of my Studio art 3D concentration1
Status - Uncertain. All possible pieces are still existent only as rough sketches or half finished portraits.
1/10/2011 - rejected... concentration is too vauge

Concentration 3 - Lines of movement
Details - Using bold lines in the background and having a human subject in the foreground interact with dramatic gestures to the background lines, I would demonstrate an ability to portray figures with a sense of movement.
Status - Uncertain. All possible pieces are still existent only as rough sketches.
1/10/2011 rejected

Concentration 4 - Smoke
Details - ?
Status - Uncertain. Concept is very intriguing. 1 piece completed.
1/10/2011 - rejected

Concentration 5 - Falling
Details - people, objects, lines which suggest the motion of falling or are actually falling.
Status - Very possible that this will be my concentration. One piece near completion. 2 pieces as WIPs
1/10/2011- near certain this is my concentration: 2 pieces completed. Countless pieces as WIPs

Concentration 6 - Abstraction and Realism
Details - this is some BSed last minute concentration regarding the balance between classical technique and abstraction.
- completed portfolio. Score : 5
One piece chosen to appear on the 2011-2012 AP Studio Art Poster
